Item Upgrades: A Simple Definition

Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a common and crucial method to enhance the performance of a variety of items in Path of Exile. They can provide extra damage, AD or even affixes.

Rare-grade equipment is usually superior to the more modernized Common or Magic equipment due to their high demands.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a kind of upgrade that can be used on weapon and armor items. They improve the stats of the item they're attached to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of games and purchased from Blacksmiths on bonfires. Alternatively, they can also be rescued from items with upgrade components within them by using an expert or greater salvage kit.

The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it can take on. The absorption of damage by a piece armor will increase as it is upgraded to its maximum upgrade level. But, it's important to be aware that this upgrade will increase its weight, which will cause it to be heavier than before.

There are several different types of armor upgrades that are available in the game. Each one has a distinct effect. For example, some upgrades will grant the armor a certain amount of additional health points, while others will make it stronger and lighter. The type of armor upgrade that an item can receive will be indicated by the name of the upgrade, as illustrated in the table below.

Certain upgrades require magic or a combination of technology and magic, as shown by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. Some upgrades also require charges to use, which is identified by the "Charges" entry in the table below. These charges are updated daily or never expire depending on the upgrade.

Iron Ore is the cheapest way to upgrade your armor.  item upgrades  can locate it by exploring and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive however, it is available from smelters located in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide a significant improvements in stats and are worth the investment, especially for 1-handed weapons.

The player must be aware that upgrading a piece to its maximum upgrade level can increase its defense value. However, it will also decrease its agility and its speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor past +9. The boost in defense typically isn't worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players to improve the effectiveness of certain aspects of a weapon. For example, an upgrade may increase the damage dealt by the shells of a shotgun or the accuracy of the rifle that snipes. Certain weapons also come with upgrades that enhance their inherent characteristics. Frictionless materials (improves stability, minimizes weapon overheating) and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's acceleration for greater damage) are two examples.

Most weapon upgrades require three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons, and a whetblade to apply. They can be obtained by finishing side quests, killing a certain number of bosses or monsters, or through the Weapon Upgrade NPC located in Central Flarine.

To upgrade the weapon, equipment set piece or Whetblade You must go to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee that is a certain amount of bars. The more bars you need to complete an upgrade the more expensive the upgrade. The cost of upgrades will be lower if you have more than one of the relevant upgrade materials.

In Chapter 2: Season 5, the method of upgrading your equipment and weapon sets was a bit different. Before you could search for an Upgrade Bench and pay for a specific amount of Bars to upgrade your weapon or equipment to an increased quality. You could do this until the weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level and at that point, the upgrades would reset.

It's possible, but it is dependent heavily on RNG. Instead, you're much better off going to the stores and buying equipment with low upgrade levels, but good base scores and stat distributions. These will have a chance at gaining you the most prestigious benefits and blessings.

To increase their level quicker, players usually prioritize upgrading their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons their squadmates use to make them stronger. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to increase its utility when paired with biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels can be used to increase the stats of a character or to provide additional effects on weapons and armor. Jewelry crafting is a method for making them, in which you combine the gemstone with specific reagents on a jewelry table. The higher the level of the jewel has, the more powerful its secondary effect. These reagents are available from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses all over the world, or by collecting Legendary Gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.

The quality of a jewel can be improved upon by the Jeweler, in stages that range from Crude to Royal. Based on the level of the gem it will give different stat boosts when it is inserted into weapons, equipment and jewelry.

All tiers of jewels can be made at the Jeweler and Jeweler's Workshop, with the exception of the rare and legendary jewels which require you to be at a high enough level to obtain the privilege of having them. Like other upgrade components jewels can be swapped with a identical jewel without destroying the original one. However it is only possible to replace a jewel in an equipment piece only once.

It is typical to use more gems to enhance the appearance of. In addition to enhancing performance, the jewels also create a surface that is harder than steel, so the repeated friction from pivots won't damage them as easily.

In addition to the above-mentioned upgrades, the player can also get glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. They offer a small benefit and can be swapped freely, but are not guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded, as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold and a scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be taken out and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components such as traits or aegis can't be exchanged and can only be found through an upgrade extractor or salvaging using Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are small pieces of equipment that bestow many small, but beneficial advantages to your hero. You can find them in the starting area as loot or as personal story rewards. They can also be obtained through vendors and after doing road interaction. They can be purchased from the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinkets a player is able to unlock is the cloak, which grants an unimportant but beneficial boost to movement speed and the ability to escape. After that, they can get amulets, rings, and necklaces in the same fashion to how the player can acquire armor and weapons. Each piece of equipment has a slot for an upgrade which can be universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be used on any piece of equipment. Jewels are not upgradeable or replaced and only work with certain trinkets.

These trinkets also provide additional buffs and skills that remain active when the hero is not in combat. This allows the hero to be more efficient when they are not active. It also helps compensate for the absence of strong slot in the talent tree or team which are usually filled by the hero's optimal stats.

A good guideline for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you will not replace in the near future, then any items with desirable stats that are less important than the iLevel of the item to be upgraded. This is especially true when an item has multiple stats you'd like to upgrade, as it's usually better to upgrade a single crucial stat than two subpar ones.

Jungle players often upgrade their yellow trinkets to a red trinket at the start of the game. Top and mid players on the other hand, will choose either a pink or green ward, depending on the game's matchup. These choices will have a major impact on the hero's ability to control his map.

In addition to the items mentioned above, players can also find a number of other trinkets in the game in the form of awards and trophies. They can be obtained through completing certain milestones within the story. For example, completing the main quest for a chapter or beating the boss. These achievements can be seen by selecting the appropriate achievement from the reward tab of the hero menu.
